Jessica

Jessica Cummings is a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist specializing in individual therapy for children and adolescents (10-18yrs), and adults with a primary focus on severe trauma, eating disorders and personality disorders, bipolar, depression and anxiety. She maintains a private practice in Toronto and Stouffville, Ontario. Jessica currently only offers services in different virtual formats. 

Jessica has over 25 years experience as an individual, couple and family therapist. She is a graduate of several Universities in Canada and the United States where she trained as a Clinical Social Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist.  Jessica has specialized in the treatment of severe trauma, eating disorders and personality disorders having worked in both the clinical hospital and private practice setting.  Jessica is a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of mental health issues with clients at her offices in Toronto and Stouffville. Among her areas of expertise are Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Nutrition and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health, ADHD and Clinical Hypnotherapy. Jessica is Board Certified in Eating Disorder. 

In addition to being a prominent Psychotherapist and Clinical Social Worker, Jessica has presented at National and International conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of Childhood Trauma, Eating Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders. Jessica is a Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine and Adjunct Professor with the Factor-Iwentash Faculty of Social Work at University of Toronto.  She has also served as an Adjunct Professor with Lyle Hallman Faculty of Social Work at Wilfred Laurier University and a Lecturer for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph and the University of Windsor. Jessica's work on the effects of Visual Media on the development of Eating Disorders is collected at the Library and Archives of Canada.

Jessica is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education: Jessica completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario where she completed simultaneous double Hon. B.A. degrees.  At the University of Windsor she earned her M.A. in Clinical Social Psychology.  Jessica went on to complete her Master of Clinical Social Work at Adelphi University in New York. Jessica furthered her studies and clinical expertise while earning a dual focused Ph.D. at Berkeley in Clinical Social Work and Psychotherapy.
